Our Fabrication Workshop

Herc has a dedicated 10,000 sq. ft. workshop for fabrication, where crane girders, crabs, and end carriages are primarily fabricated and assembled. The workshop is spacious enough to accommodate and assemble multiple cranes simultaneously. Our Fabrication shop is well-equipped with the following:

Machining Centre

Herc takes pride in its motto, ‘Making everything in-house.’ This approach requires a variety of machines to ensure that we manufacture our components with utmost precision, guaranteeing a high-quality product for our clients. Our machining center is equipped with the following:

Painting Area

Electrical Department

Herc has a dedicated 800 sq. ft area in its plant for manufacturing and testing of electrical panels. Electrical quality checks are essential to ensure the safe and efficient operation of cranes. Here are some key areas that Herc’s Electrical Department Focuses on:

  1. Insulation Testing
  • Megger Test: Measure the insulation resistance between conductors and ground to assess the quality of the insulation.
  • Hipot Test: Apply a high voltage to the insulation to check for breakdown or leakage currents.
  1. Grounding Continuity
  • Continuity Test: Verify the continuity of the grounding system to ensure proper electrical grounding.

  • Resistance Measurement: Measure the resistance of the grounding path to ensure it meets safety standards.

3. Circuit Breaker Testing

  •  Functional Test: Verify that circuit breakers operate as intended under various fault conditions.
  • Trip Curve Test: Check that the circuit breaker trips at the correct current level.

4. Motor Testing

  • Insulation Resistance Test: Measure the insulation resistance of the motor windings.

  • Load Test: Test the motor under rated load conditions to verify its performance.

  • Vibration Analysis: Monitor vibration levels to detect mechanical problems.

5. Control System Testing

  • Functional Test: Verify that the control system operates as intended.

  • Safety Interlock Testing: Ensure that safety interlocks function properly.

  • Emergency Stop Testing: Test the emergency stop system to ensure it functions as intended.

6. Wiring and Cabling

  • Visual Inspection: Check for damage, loose connections, or incorrect wiring.

  • Continuity Test: Verify the continuity of each circuit.

  • Polarity Check: Ensure correct polarity of connections.

7. Power Quality Analysis

  • Harmonic Analysis: Measure harmonic distortion to assess power quality.

  • Voltage Sag and Swell Analysis: Identify voltage fluctuations that can affect equipment performance

By conducting these electrical quality checks, our electrical department and team ensure the prevention of electrical failures, reduce downtime, and guarantee the safety of personnel and equipment once the product is delivered to our clients.

Quality Control Department

Delivering a quality product is of prime importance to us at Herc. We ensure that our Quality Assurance Plans are followed and are well-equipped with the necessary instruments to uphold these standards. Our Quality and Inspection Division thoroughly checks all parts manufactured by our production team using inspection instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and testing machines to ensure that the cranes meet quality standards. Herc has a dedicated area and team to oversee this process. Our quality team is responsible for inspecting all components and assemblies throughout the manufacturing process, as well as the materials made for inventory, before they enter our store.

Testing Facilities

Load testing is a foolproof method to ensure that the products manufactured at Herc Material Handling are ready to perform at our clients’ workshops without any hindrance. To achieve this, Herc follows a comprehensive Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), which includes physical test runs, motor checks, gearbox noise level checks, and physical load testing at the plant prior to dispatch. The testing is conducted with calibrated loads in our testing area at a minimum of 125% of the Safe Working Load of the machines we supply. This thorough testing assures our clients that the machines have been rigorously checked and tested before dispatch and are truly ‘built to last.’

Inventory and Supply Chain Management

Inventory management is key to timely delivery. Herc utilizes Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP) to ensure that all historical data is leveraged to understand market trends and plan inventories accordingly. A strict min-max system and a well-managed store of over 1,600 sq. ft. ensure that Herc is equipped to provide prompt delivery and after-sales service to our customers when needed. Our stores are segregated into four parts: Raw Materials, Work in Progress (WIP), Finished Goods, and recurring spares, all stored separately with geo-tagging done inside the plant itself. This organization allows Herc to make prompt deliveries as required by our clients. We ensure that any spare parts are maintained for a minimum of five years after the machines are supplied to our clients. A well-maintained store instills confidence in our clients regarding our capacity to serve them promptly, even a decade later, thereby increasing our credibility.
